Distorted display on laptop

I am getting a distorted display in “Slide Show” mode using LibreOffice on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 17R, with 17" display). The display is stretched vertically, and text has letters shifted randomly somewhat sideways (both right and left), making words somewhat difficult to read. Also, some slides won’t fully display (e.g. the text shows, but not graphics).

I see the same problems when I use a second (dual) display, attached to the laptop (via HDMI). This is true both for having setting the second display to duplicate the laptop display (display “clone” mode), and using the “extended” display mode and having the second display be the presentation display (with the laptop showing the presenter display, with includes notes, timer, and preview of next slide).

I have no such problems in “Normal” mode (i.e., the editing mode) on the laptop. I also have no such problems on my desktop (Dell XPS 8300), even in Slide Show mode. And I have no such problem on the laptop when I open the same Impress file in OpenOffice rather than LibreOffice.

I assume this is using version 3.5.1 under Windows.
This regression was introduced between versions 3.5.0 and 3.5.1

You have two options: use this workaround

Can't see pictures in Impress Presentation

or downgrade to 3.5.0

Hopefully this should be fixed in 3.5.2

Hi @Pedro1 and @MCK – Has this problem been solved by 3.5.2 or more recent builds? I’d like to close out this question if it has been answered/solved. Thanks!

@qubit1, yes it was fixed in 3.5.2.2 (as reported by manj_k in the linked question). Cheers!
