I am very new to LibreOffice. I’m trying to generate a report from an employee database. I want the field names across the top row and then the columns to contain the data from the field at the top.
Is there any way to do this?

It appears you have not established a Group or Report header. Please refer to the documentation on how this is created and what it does. See → LibreOffice Base Handbook. Look in Chapter 6 - Reports.
