Find and Replace Crashes Libre Draw

Hello,

I have the latest version of Libre Office on my Windows 11 Pro machine. I am attempting to replace a single character in a multi-page document with another character. About half way through the replacing process the program hangs and will not respond.

I tried it in Safe Mode, turned on and off Skia, turned hardware acceleration on and off. I still get the same result.

I had this problem with Windows 7 Ultimate some time ago, but the problem went away with one of the updates.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Is it the LO 25.8.3?

Can you upload an ODF (.odg) type sample file here?

Hello,

I just installed the latest version today. 25.8.3.2.

I am sorry, I can not upload a sample file as I am working on something of intellectual property nature.
Each page in the document has multiples of the same character. And that character is the only character across the entire document.

So, I am only changing from one character to another, just numerous times.

Thank you.

Sorry, I can not help you without a sample file.

O.K.

Thank you.

There does seem to a difference in Find and Replace in 25.8.3.2. In the document below, when I click Replace All it replaces just one instance, a second press replaces all. I don’t get a crash however.
Find&ReplaceCharacterInDraw.odg (11.9 KB)
It is a change from 25.8.2.2 so you could make a bug report, How to Report Bugs in LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki
<br.

You could revert to an older version from the archive, Index of /libreoffice/old

Thank you.

On your document, my version finds and replaces all instances of the same character immediately.

Thank you for the link to the older versions. I may reset my user profile first. If that does not work, then I will try an older version.

In this case your “sample” document is broken. Why you want to downgrade the LO because of a broken document?

It was not my sample document.

You can try an older Portable version of the LO. (Not needed to uninstall the latest version.)

I have never tried that.

Thank you.

We will give it a go later.
