Brand new here, pretty new user of Base, with an ambitious request. I have six fields, A B and C, and T U and V. Based on a yes/no choice by the data entry person (using either a check box or maybe a radio button?) after I finally got to the point where I could test and save a record using this macro, I find that although the macro works to copy the data from two fields into two other fields, the check in the check box disappears when I save the record (by moving to a new record).

In a sense, the check box has done its job, but I would like to save the presence or absence of the check mark as data as well. Can this be done?

Did you connect the check box to a field of the data source? Should be a field for boolean (yes/no).
