Forgotten password, recovery?

Hello,
My question is whether it is currently possible to recover a file that is password-protected in any way. I created a file where I wrote a kind of diary and password-protected it, as other people occasionally use my computer. I did write down the password, but apparently I wrote it down incorrectly, which means I don’t have the exact password, but a similar one.

There is a less lapse-prone way of protecting your privacy on a shared computer though less robust. Create one account per user (or usage) and configure access rights on your directories or files to remove or reduce access rights on groups and “rest-of-the-world”. Only the owner keeps full-access rights.

This also has the benefits of protecting against mistakes by one user by segregating data into separate “domains”.

Yes. If you know the password .
A protection easily broken by amateurs would be useless.

However, you told that you “know something similar”.
If you want to try lots of possible passwords, you can get help using the attached spreadsheet document.
