Having difficulty with Impress Template

I can’t seem to figure out how to make a LibreOffice Impress template that works.

I create the template and using the master slide feature set the background color that I want for all slides. I then set the text and bullet points to the font color white. So basically I have one background color for all slides and one font color (white) for all text and bullets.

But when I try to use the template the font and bullets are black and sometimes the background color randomly changes to white.

I am saving my presentations at .pptx for broader compatibility.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a step by step guide to doing this right?

With what?

How to open files from MS-Office 2007 or 2010 (.DOCX, .XLSX,…)?

I’m not sure what you mean? I save them using LibreOffice Impress

Well, if you work with LibreOffice, you should save in the native file format ODP.
If you save in Impress in the alien format, you may have compatibility problems.
So it’s the other way around than you think.

These issues happen whether I save it in odp or pptx. Can we get back to my original question about how to properly set the background color and font/bullet colors for all slides?

Unfortunately, you do not describe exactly how you proceed.

My approach:
Select Master view.
Right-click on a slide at the edge and select Slide properties.
In the Background tab, select Color and a color, preferably dark.
The text will then automatically turn white,
Select Close master view.
Done.

If you need it often, you can save it as a document template.

And save Impress documents preferably in ODP format:

With me:
Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

This didn’t work for me. The bullets and the text remain black and I have no way to set the default font and bullet color to white that works.

First steps to take before submitting a bug

Nothing on that page was related to my installation. I don’t think this is a bug.

All I want to do is set the default font to white and all bullets to white for all my Impress slides.

Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

I f you are with a 25.2 version (Menu>Help>About LibreOffice), test modifying in Menu>Tools>Options>LIbreOffice>Appearance the selected theme,

I was able to make some progress. I now have the font and bullets showing up as white and it is showing up on all new slides. It wasn’t working before but now the master slide feature is finally working. Not sure why it wasn’t before.

Now I’m trying to change the default font style on all slides but can’t seem to make it stick.

Please ask a new separate question on this topic. Thank you.
