I received an odp document with custom colors (certain parts of the text have a custom color) that are not defined in my installation. I now want to make changes in this document and actually use these custom defined colors. I know I can add colors in Tools > Options > Colors, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to find out what the color code of those colors are.
So, how do I add the colors to my palette or how do I find out their color code?
If you have GIMP, you might use the color picker tool (O). Load a screenshot and pick the desired color. Then, click left on the foreground color to get to the color code.
I’m gonna have to go this way then. The colors are in the document so it seems quite rediculous that I would need to take a screen shot to actually get to them.
I’m a bit reluctant to mark this as the answer, as it is a work around and not a fix.
Sorry I can not help you better. I’ve tested the solution, it took me less than half a minute. Hope it works out for you, though.
As to find out what color is used by in the document you receive, you can just ask the RGB settings used for each color. This can be seen in Tools > options > colors. For each color to be seen there you can see the RGB settings. Just open this menu and click on a few colors and you can see there RGB settings.
As for your settings you can modify what you have and even add colors. How many you can get I don’t know because one can define MANY.

To be honest, the custom colors of the document are not listed in Tools > options > colors, hence my question here.
Think I’ve seen discussion about futre enhancement where the actual color palette info will be saved with each document. Not sure about its status right now. When this fature arrives you’ll see any custom colors in the document color palette. See here.
For now, I’d use a color picker; a tiny application for retrieving screen colors, existing in most operating systems and environments. A good one gives color values in multiple color spaces; Hex, RGB, Lab, etc.
Then you can go to Tools > Options > Colors and add the color to your standard palette (or create your own).
There is a built in color picker in LibreOffice, which resides in Tools > Color Replacer, but I haven’t fond it elsewhere. It could be a good enhancement to use it to add any color to an actual color palette - maybe it is in the pipelines, will check.
There is a Format Paintbrush tool that copies the format settings of a selection, which you can then apply somewhere else.
