I have a bank transaction listing. four columns: date, amount, item, balance.
then the rows beneath are the dates and amounts for those date.
well there’s many different items but they include many that are repeated.
like mortgage payments and direct credits.
i tried to use a pivot table to make all the items be columns and the rows be dates with value ‘amount’ hoping to get all the repeating items nicely lined up for me.
so I want the table to finish up as columns: item1, item2, item3… itemn and rows: dates and the values in the cells the amounts.
But it all goes wrong. The dates jump the gun and put totals for 3 months, for 6 months and so on and I can’t them to stop that. And the amounts keep totalling and I can’t stop that.
It’s being far too clever.
Anyone know how to help me get it to do what I want?
And the
That was never and IS NOT by default implemented into pivot tables, thats a explzit →Data→Group and Outline→Grouping→…

If the pivot looks somehow broken, and you dont know why … no problem … delete the pivot-output and start again!!
