I have an embedded video in a Libreoffice Impress presentation. How do I export it as a separate file? (Problem unsolved).)

Some one else made a post about this which was marked as solved, but as far as I can see it does not solve it at all. Like the previous poster, someone else sent me a presentation containing media files. I need to save one of the media files separately, but I can find no way of doing this. The previous (labelled correct) answer reads:
“The ODP file is a ZIP format file. So change the file extension to ZIP and extract. The free 7-Zip app understands that all LO files are ZIPs. So using 7-Zip you can just right-click and extract. The video files are in the Media folder.”
This answer is very problemmatic. It mentions “the ODP file”, which is not mentioned at all in the original question. There is no explanation of what this file is or where it is to be found. There is no such thing as a “media folder” to be found anywhere in Impress. The answerer should tell the reader where such a folder is, and explain how one accesses this mysterious ODP file.
On a general note, this is a broader problem with Libre Office’s programs. Unintuitive, and very difficult to find clear explanations of how to fix problems online.

In what format was the presentation - Impress, PowerPoint, something else? Also please mention your operating system and LO version from Help | About.

ODP is the file format for an Impress presentation. Similar advice applies to PowerPoint files of type .pptx - they are zipped files and will contain the video media in a sub-directory of the unzipped file.

FTR: the quoted answer is from this question. And as usual, it is a broader problem with people not reading carefully (the question itself starts with “I have an ODP presentation…”); blaming others for their ignorance (@georgeholloway of course doesn’t have to know that “ODP presentation” actually means “an ODP file” - but it’s not OK to claim others do things wrong when they answer in context, to someone who obviously has a clue); and generally having incorrect expectations (telling kind volunteers here offering their expertise to people asking for help, how they must answer, and what the answer must include)…

Incorrect. The question does not mention ODP. You linked to the wrong question.

Many thanks for your reply. I understand now that both Impress and Powerpoint files have zipped files.

Then link the proper question. It is another problem of people referencing to something they can see only themselves. My reference was clear, and everyone can see the text that you quoted, being there.

Thank you for your suggestion. You just found the wrong reference, it doesn’t matter.
