Image fade to background colour (fade to transparent)

Hello, using Libreoffice Impress. I upload an image to use, but I want it to fade to transparent on the X-axis along the left hand 20%. See picture for rough idea.

I’ve tried doing the slide background image and tried a image on the slide, but no luck with the transparency.

You do not say what file format the image has.

For me it works with a PNG file.
Because PNG has an alpha channel for transparency.

Are you able to fade an image to the background colour though?

Like if i have multiple slides that have images on, and i need to fade them into the background at different points along the x-axis once i see how the slide text will look. So i don’t want to edit images in a image editor, i just want to fade them easily in a gradient.

Yes,

  1. add a rectangle: shape/insert/basic shapes/rectangle

  2. add bitmap of the image you want: right click rectangle/area/bitmap/add-import/ok

  3. add fade: right click image/area/transparency tab/gradient/linear/90deg/80%/0%/100%/ok

To shift the fade to the left hand side change the angle to 270deg.

Hope this helps
