When I type ¿, ¡, and some other Spanish letters, the letter jumps to a different part of the document. This is a new problem that has only just arisen.
It is possible that you have changed text direction. Mixing left-to-right and right-to-left input in a paragraph can sometimes give the behavior you describe.
