I’m not sure if I accidentally hit something in a setting somewhere or what, but all my Writer docs automatically change the formatting at the end of paragraphs. The sentence itself is fine and uses whatever formatting I had chosen. However, when I go back later and click on the end of a paragraph or line, any new text I type will be bolded and underlined. Anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance for the help.
Please upload an ODF type sample file here.
sample.odt (40.0 KB)
If it makes a difference, it was not originally saved as a .odt file but a .docx (Word 2007-365) file.
Note: Never was and never will be 100% compatibility between the different file formats. Alvays use native, international standard ODF file formats for the important documents.
You will lose format properties or ever some content, when you save them into foreign (or obsolete, or never standardized) formats.
I suggest you to use
- Styles (paragraph styles, character styles, page styles, etc…) instead of the direct (manual) formatting properties
- Indent feature instead of a TAB character at the beginning of a paragraph
Thanks. I’ll try those out next time, and I will keep that in mind about the file types.
I can’t reproduce with your sample file. In which paragraph this happen?
Just a guess:
See if Record is checked (menu Edit
- Track Changes
). But that also changes the text color.
Which LibreOffice version are you using? Older versions activated the Record option with Ctrl+Alt+C or Ctrl+Shift+C (I don’t remember exactly which one).
Which version of LibreOffice do you use? And didn’t you edit this file using a newer version of LibreOffice, before continuing with an older version?
