LibreOffice startup always asking reopen windows

Platform: Mac OS X 10.8.2
LibreOffice version: 3.5.5, 3.6.2

Original I ran LibreOffice 3.5.5 on my mac. Recently after an application crash during LibreOffice start up, thereafter every LO start up it always shows a dialogue box

"The last time you opened LibreOffice, it
unexpectedly quit while reopening windows.
Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?

If you choose not to reopen windows, you may have to
open and position the windows yourself

[ Don’t Reopen ] [ Reopen ]"

This box won’t go away by repeatably clicking either buttons, nor it have a way to skip this (though I can create/open documents). Even under File menu, the item “Quit LibreOffice” is always dimmed - the only way to get rid of this is to open terminal and do a ‘kill -9’

I’ve tried the following things, but none helped…

  • Restart the system
  • removed my LibreOffice directory under ~/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice
  • removed the version 3.5.5 from the system, download and install a fresh copy of 3.6.2

Status: REOPENED RESOLVED FIXED

“blind fix for renamed OS X restore-state file”

(see comments 117–120; available in LibreOffice 4.1.5 / 4.2.0 )

Open Finder
Option-click the Go menu
Choose Library from the menu to open the folder in the Finder.
or enter (~/Library)

Click on the folder Saved Application State
Delete the file “org.libreoffice.script.savedState”

Still evident in 4.0.3. Workaround involving deletion of file org.libreoffice.script.savedState works perfectly.

Hi @4Bn0rmL,

Thanks for the information about repro’ing this bug on 4.0.3. It would be most helpful to us if you could please comment on the bug in our Bugtracker (see @manj_k’s Correct Answer for the link).

Thanks!

Running Mac 10.8.4, had this problem. Deleted & completely reinstalled the new LibreOffice. Sought the named Library folder, and the named offending file, using “Go” and the native Mac finder search function; could not find either item. LibreOffice simply does not run now.

I have the same problem. Upgrading to the latest version did not help. Deleting the files in ~/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice did not help.

UPDATE: This did work. Thanks!

Open Finder Option-click the Go menu Choose Library from the menu to open the folder in the Finder. or enter (~/Library)

Click on the folder Saved Application State Delete the file “org.libreoffice.script.savedState”

I have the same issue and I deleted org.libreoffice.script.savedState but I still can’t get libreoffice to quit or the restore window box to go away… please help…

@moshmomma – That bug should not occur any longer with the current version 4.1.2, see: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39007#c105 , and http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=7aa6eaa8b27aea6d52875d1a7d7994b3ca3e5904&h=libreoffice-4-1 .

Would it be an alternative to upgrade from 3.5.5 to 3.5.7 and wait for 3.7.0 (to the best of my knowledge this 3.7 is renamed 4.0)? Or give 3.6.4 a try; this is supposed to be release any day from now.
