Libreoffice writer pastes previous clipboard content

How to reset the Libreoffice Writer clipboard behavior?
Any time I copy from Google Chrome, writer pastes the previous clipboard content! It’s driving me crazy, the software simply became unusable.
Version: 6.4.4.2 (x64) here.
Can someone recommend me an old version that works?
I saw the bug reports of this problem, are developers actually aware of this annoying bug?

saw the bug reports of this problem,

Please provide a reference to the bug reports.

Which operating system are you using (the description sounds like the known bug of clipboard manager mutter)?

[edit] —(2021-05-08)—
seems most copy / paste problems are resolved with the retry patches for e.g. tdf#136175,
thinks we can set this solved.
be aware that it’s patched only for fresh 7.1 and 7.2 versions.

hello @icefront,

[edit] ------------
the comment from @anon73440385 is! important:

yes, there are plenty reports that using ‘clipboard managers’ is conflicting with LO,

often mentioned and failing is ‘mutter’ on linux systems, and tests by me and @Teleto showed that using ‘insideclipboard’ within windows brings the errors from ‘sometimes’ to ‘very often’,

i can’t tell for mutter, for insideclipboard i’d judge that it’s more likely insideclipboard bringing LO weaknesses to the surface than being buggy itself (as other applications work flawless with or without insideclipboard), that’s not proven clue but my personal impression,

thanks @anon73440385,
[/edit] ------------

don’t worry, you are in good company, there are hundrets of reports and filed bugs about dozens of flavours of copy/paste misbehaviour in LO …

(it is useless to ask users for individual receipts or specific confirmation / circumstances when you have realized this)

most of the flavours have workarounds like first pasting in another application (e.g. notepad) and then copying from there or retry copying or similar, but not all,

the big problem with this: most of the errors occur only sporadically, and are therefore ‘not reproducible’, and such a thing is ‘difficult’ for the developers,

the good news: it should/could have changed something to version 7.1 … not sure because nobody knows where and what the improvement has brought (just like before nobody knew what, why and when it didn’t work), but as far as I have seen there are at least much less bugs …

‘old version that works’ - reports go back to 2011, short check shows similar complaints for apache OpenOffice, thus not a viable solution,

hope: comment from Timur:

download - experimental! - dev-version: LibreOffice dev versions:

As long as OP isn’t providing his operating system your advice may be right or wrong. If OP uses an operating system with clipboard manager "mutter* your advice probably is wrong and doesn’t fix the issue. Even if there a plenty of reports copy&paste being faulty in LibreOffice, it many cases it turned out, that in fact it got nothing to do with LibreOffice but with clipboard manager in use.

I have a solution - at least for my instance. I also was getting a problem with pasting the previous item copied to the clip board. Closing and opening Libre Calc solved it for a few instances and the it stopped pasting between Firefox and Libre completely. It would work to paste to a text editor - which would clear the clip board. After reading the list here - I started closing programs. I had opened Freemaker Video Converter and had not closed it. Once closed, the problem went away.

hi, happy that you found something, sad it’s likely not the solution for everyone …

I have often encountered this issue with other programs, and the solution that always works is to paste the text into a text editor then copy it again into the other program.

No, this is not solved, as in Windows 11, 23H2 (with 128GB of Ram), and LO 20.2.0.3, when faced with LO pasting previous clipboard content (text) despite new text being copied which will paste in Apache OO and other applications yet LO pastes the last previous content, then pasting the copied text into a text editor and then copying it again and pasting it into LO does not solve the issue. LO still pastes the previous clipboard content.

This occurs whether Clipboard history is On or Off in Windows settings, and clearing clipboard content (LO still pastes previous content). And Paste Special does the same, pasting previous content.

The Inside Clipboard extension recommended in the bug report shows clipboard history and with the content that LO ignores in favor of the previous content.

Note that W/11 has unresolved issues with its clipboard.

?

Actually, it is solved - but much later, in tdf#148647, for the not-yet-released version 24.8.
