Line spacing problem between LibreOffice writer and MS Word

I need the same text layout result in both LibreOffice Writer and MS Word. When I open a one-page document created in MS Word with LibreOffice Writer, the latter shows two pages. Despite using the same font name, size, and single spacing, the line spacing appears visually wider in LibreOffice Writer compared to Word. This discrepancy becomes more apparent when using CJK fonts, where the layout differs significantly between the two software. It seems that the internal and external leadings vary in LibreOffice Writer and MS Word, causing the discrepancy in page layout. However, when using LATIN fonts, the text layout results are consistent between the two programs. Finding a solution to this issue may involve adjusting the leading settings or choosing fonts that are compatible across both platforms. How to solve it?

Does it work on the same PC with the same font installed?
Have you checked the settings in the paragraph styles in Writer and Word?

And let us know which operating system and which version of LibreOffice you are using.

The problem may not be (line or inter-paragraph) spacing. Your file is DOCX, an alien format needing conversion when being handled by Writer. This introduces artefacts and approximate translations of some features.

Here we have a simple document where everything is direct-formatted. You don’t even use paragraph styling available in M$ Word.

IMHO, the main factor is related to font substitution (SimSun is not available on my computer and is therefore replaced by some other fonts which metrics is not exactly identical) and to widow/orphan management. By default, 2 lines of paragraph are required at bottom or top of page. Since available space at bottom does not allow for these two lines (due to cumulative small differences in font metrics?), the second paragraph is flushed to start on second page.

From the Writer screenshot, you chose a tabbed interface “à la Word”, encouraging direct format instead of the recommended style workflow by the standard UI.

Thank you for your response. Cause of the problem differs from provided explanation. Same error arises when using different CJK fonts. no widow/orphan problem.

Unfortunately I can’t help more because I don’t intend to install SimJun and have no Word to compare with.
