Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 - the connection to the database could not be established

Even though I have downloaded the most compatible version of Java I keep getting this message when trying to create a database: No Java installation could be found. Please check your installation.

Please advise if anyone has encountered / resolved this issue

I have installed SE 17, reboot the Mac, still same behavior. I installed SE 8, same. When I enter Preferences → Advanced java is clicked, it says it is installed but not working. I am trying to export 2M rows from LibreOffice Base to CSV and looking for options to do it. I do not know if I need java coz new to LibreOffice and exploring.

Seems Mac needs not only JRE, but whole JDK …
