I have a simple solution:
To get the same behaviour and the same appearance like the Word checkboxes - use the Word checkboxes. Copy them from a Word document that you have opened with Libreoffice Writer - and paste them into a random Writer document, or make an Autotext entry from it.
These checkboxes are clickable and follow the font size of the text around them. Works with Libreoffice Writer 7.2. I have not yet tried newer versions.
For me it is a mystery why there seems to be no way inside Writer to produce that checkbox - which is obviously supported - by itself.
Ah, “I have not yet tried newer versions” explains the “mystery”. Criticizing something, when you use such an old version, may create awkward situations like this, when the feature you claim “no way” has appeared more than two years ago.
Oh no, this is really embarrassing.
And it is available as of Libreoffice 7.4?
Perhaps you could leave this thread behind for people who are as lazy in updating as I am…
Thank you!
IMHO, the content controls are placed in the wrong menu, because they have nothing in common with the database forms of menu “Form”. I would move that submenu to the “Insert” menu. Menues are customizable.
Tools>Customize… tab “Menu”
On the left side, search for “content control”
On the right side, create a new submenu of “Insert” and select it.
Then move the menu items from left to right.
Finally, select “Forms” on the right side and move submenu “Content Controls” to the left “into the command pool”.
