Multiple colors in frames/label?

Hello! Is there a way to set multiple colors of frames background?
I want to print some labels for jars but i don’t need all in one type but multiple, when i copy/paste label without background(i need white background) to project where there is a background color set i will set color for pasted label. When i try to set background color back to white (or no color) then it will change in all labels not only that was pasted. Is there a way to change color? I tried to disable connection within section settings but no luck :frowning:

  1. Open file Label1.odt and Label2.odt
  2. Remove unneseceary labels from Label2.odt
  3. Copy label from Label1.odt to Label2.odt (it will change background color to labels from Label2 file)

Label1.odt (25.2 KB)
Label2.odt (22.0 KB)

Your .odt document is uselessly over-complicated. You added sections for no reason. Frames were used where a simple table would have been enough. Last and most important, your document is not a text one. It rather look like a graphical one.

My advice is to use Draw where you’ll control individually each label. Design one (+) and duplicate it both in x and y direction to fill the sheet. Alternatively, you can use Impress which is grossly the same application as Draw but specialised for presentation. Impress offers a “table” layout which is not present in Draw. So, you may have a try.

(+) A label can be a collection of basic shapes – only two are necessary (enclosing rectangle and fancy inner polyline) which you group so that they always remain together. There is no need to ass a text box because every shape can be labelled with a string constrained inside the shape. Note that a text box is nothing else than a rectangle with no border. Label directly your shape.

All sections/frames are auto generated i only put background color, those rectangular shape, text and sometimes additional image

maybe it’s over complicated but I had created first “batch” of labels years ago via:
File->New ->Labels
Then i only changed/update color or text inside first label, press sync button and saved as new one :wink:
I write here because it’s annoying every year to when i need to print mixed labels… Today i printed 12 labels of one type, reinsert paper in different orientation and printed 9 of other type (21 labels per A4 sheet). I will try copy/paste my labels to Draw and check if it can be easily “converted”

I suspected you used the label wizard, but apparently without mail merge. Consequently in this simple case, it is not more difficult to design everything in Draw where every label can be different. You can also use styles (but they are different from those in Writer and much less elaborated) to quickly set a label characteristics (font colour & size, background colour, border colour & thickness, …).

thanks! I will try to move to Draw :slight_smile:

Yes, it is.

@Karpiu
Check the Frame Styles ⇒ [ ] AutoUpdate (deselect this).

See attached screenshot and altered Label2.odt file!

Now you can synchronize the text content without changing the background of the frames.

OT
https://www.deepl.com was helpful in translating the label’s text content… :grinning:

Cheers and godspeed!

EDIT
Your file seems to be created on OpenOffice, right? (Frames are anchored as characters; LibreOffice anchors to page when using the label wizard.)

Thank You very much! It works! :smiley:
I think first version of labels was created with LibreOffice 5.x (~2017) then I only copy/paste and use it as template :slight_smile:
Deepl translation is terrifying :open_mouth: it translated from “zucchini in mustard” to “pepper in machine oil” :open_mouth:
