LO writter allows only 2 colors for gradient on a shape. In Microsoft word you have the option to add more than 2 colors to a gradient and change their positions.

Note that there is not yet a user interface to create the multi-colour gradients. You might be able to see multi-colour gradients produced in Word in LO 7.6
