No paragraph marks

I do not know what I did but the paragraph marks will not show up anymore when I turn them on. How can I fix this?

Paragraph Formatting Marks are gone and toggling does not bring them back?

Can anyone tell me how to get the paragraph marks displayed again? I come back to work from vacation, update all my software to latest, and now LibreOffice will not show paragraph marks. It worked fine when I last used it last year, but now the Toggle Formatting Marks turns on/off margins and table borders, but paragraph marks never show? What have I done wrong? I had found another post with the answer after I posted this one.
Open your document.
Go to menu item Tools>Options and expand LibreOffice Writer section
Select Formatting Aids
In Display Formatting section, check the items you want displayed.
Select Apply then OK
Your items should display now.

(if you have other documents open, you may need to close and reopen to see the change, or come back to this dialog in that document and just hit OK to activate for an already open file)
This happened during one of the updates (that turned all of these options to off).
