no paragraph marks

I do not know what I did but the paragraph marks will not show up anymore when I turn them on. How can I fix this?

Paragraph Formatting Marks are gone and toggling does not bring them back?

Can anyone tell me how to get the paragraph marks displayed again? I come back to work from vacation, update all my software to latest, and now LibreOffice will not show paragraph marks. It worked fine when I last used it last year, but now the Toggle Formatting Marks turns on/off margins and table borders, but paragraph marks never show? What have I done wrong?
