Noto Serif Bold = Bold + Italic

Any bolded Noto Serif text turns bold as well as italic.

This applies to new and existing documents.

Safe mode does not change this behavior, neither did repairing my installation of libre office.

EDIT:

I use Windows 10, LO version 24.8.2.1 (X86_64).

The Noto fonts came with the software. I did not install them on my own. Noto Serif Bold and Noto Serif Italic are both available. Noto Serif Bold displays as it should, but bolding the normal Noto Serif yields Bold+Italic.

If you expect sensible answer, help us: click on under your question, then on the “pencil” icon. You are now in Edit mode.

Add OS name, LO version and save format. Fonts are retrieved from you system. Variations like bold or italic are “translated” into selection of a separate font file. Consequently, if the bold-only variant is not installed, the OS font manager will return the “closest” equivalent. In your case, this ended in bold italic.

Check installed fonts, download the missing variants or reinstall completely the font.

Reinstalling the font helped, thanks.

That is strange. I never downloaded the font to begin with. It came with the software and updating to 24.8.2.1 broke it.

Noto fonts are not distributed with LibreOffice as of version 24.2.
The Update may have removed some variants of this font
