Win 11 home laptop recent updated Jan 2025 by MS has made LibreOffice unusable. Still works on another Win 11 & Win 7 machines. Uninstalled and ran a registry cleaner, rebooted, downloaded fresh copy, rebooted again and then did the fresh install. Same if not worse fail to open and even using Safe Mode fails to load existing calc files. I can go to the Win 7 machine and open the file across the network and make the necessary changes & Save without any problem.
That may have changed it from a simple fix to an almost impossible one without a fresh Windows install. Who knows what it deleted?

DID NOT do the cleaning until I had given up and was going to do a FRESH download this morning and installation. LibreOffice has been screwing up for 2 weeks… Whatever the update did it also effected MS paint and makes it lock when I attempt to do anything with printing - setup, preview or print. I did a complete removal and install of the MS paint again and it did not cure the issue.
LibreOffice is the more important issue to me.
If it doesn’t start in Safe mode then there is real damage; maybe you can use a portable version.
If LibreOffice can open OK in safe mode and create a document then you don’t need to re-install. Can it do that?
If it opens OK but you cannot open existing files then it might be an anti-virus/anti ransomware issue. In that case you need to check the documentation for the anti virus. This might help if you are using Windows Security, Defender Controlled folder access exception for LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki
.
Note that if the Windows 7 machine is controlling access to a network folder through its anti virus, then you might not be able to access the files from any other computer. This is what happens with AVG/Avast anti virus
If LibreOffice opens OK in Safe mode then you could work through these steps, Version 25.2.03 will not work on my Win 10 Home. - #4 by EarnestAl
I HATE COMPUTERS!!!
Tried your suggestion in Safe Mode… created word document saved and then added and saved different name. Tried to open a file that would not open 10 hours ago - not only did it open fine but the print functions ALL worked.
Closed Safe Mode and opened the normal LibreOffice and it works like it did a month ago… FINE NO issues…
Other than read a few dozen emails and a pdf file on an Onyko AV POS that I gave added privileges to in the media streaming –
I had given up in frustration when I posted this message… DO NOT have any idea what changed…
THANK YOU to those who responded. Wish I could state it was “XXXXXX” that caused the problems.
