PDF Export changing the original document for apparently no reason

So I am trying to find an explanation as to why this is happening. I noticed that there is even a bug report about this from months ago, which received no attention at all — 164240 – Exported PDF doesn't take "Spacing to Borders" into account properly

Misaligned_plus_test.odg (10.8 KB)

As you can see, after you export the document as pdf, the plus sign goes off center for some reason. I tried to check every setting and I still cannot understand why this is happening.

Perhaps because they are not centered.
Select those drawings and, using the alignment tool, center them.

Nope, they are centered. I re-tested it.
Even if they weren’t, why should the pdf file move them anyway.

Maybe I am missing something obvious here. I hope someone figures this out.

After centered, the rectangle, has a different position.

Oh, I thought you mean centering the text inside.
I still don’t get what the problem is, though. Centered or not why does the pdf make a change to the file?
Right before exporting I make no changes to the .odg file and it is right in the center, after export it changes…

If you screenshot the zoomed-in view (with identical zoom, say, 1700%) in Draw and in a PDF viewer, and overlap them (with partial transparency), you may see that the difference is in the text size. See how the text’ top right ~coincides, while left-bottom is considerably different.

(I screenshotted my slightly changed document, not exactly your example.)

In this case, why does the PDF change the text size? Why can’t it keep the exact same size?
I am positive that if I turn that rectange into a metafile, it would keep both the size and dimension the same. So there has to be some sort of a bug.

And you know what, you even mentioned that bug - which was tdf#164240.

Well, I contacted the person reporting it as well. No reply so far.
Do you think it is also a bug? Nobody responded to that report either.

Do you expect some timely response? Do we have another bug here: a bug of wrong expectations?

In case I misunderstood your earlier comment about text sizes, it seemed to imply that this behaviour was normal. So I just wanted to confirm with you if you also thought it is a bug

It is a bug, yes.

I haven’t used that platform yet, but I do notice that there are certain users in the CC list for many other bugs. Is it normal to have no one in that list, as in this bug?

Yes it’s normal. It will get attention when it gets attention. People will only add them to CC if they consider it’s useful to get notified about changes there. All that is done by volunteers.
