Hello people, just want to talk about an issue I’m having moving columns in calc.
I am using the following method provided by “bburns” from this discussion on the topic:

"Yeah, it’s a bit of a hidden feature, and I couldn’t find anything searching the help for ‘calc move column’.
So to move columns or rows, click on the header(s) to select them, then hold down Alt and drag one of the cells in the region to the new location. To make a copy hold down Alt+Ctrl. To just obliterate the destination don’t hold down any keys."
Here are the results I am getting:

If I “click on the header(s) to select them, then hold down Alt and drag one of the cells in the region to the new location”, and keep holding down Alt whilst I release the mouse click:
The column is copied by creating a new column and moving all the original columns contents into it, with the original still staying where it is. -
If I “click on the header(s) to select them, then hold down Alt and drag one of the cells in the region to the new location”, and keep holding down Alt then press and hold Ctrl whilst I release the mouse click:
The same result as 1). -
If I “click on the header(s) to select them, then hold down Alt and drag one of the cells in the region to the new location”, and release Alt before releasing the mouse click:
The column is copied by moving the original column’s contents into the location it was dragged to, with the original still staying where it is. No extra column is created.
So, how do I truly “move” a column? Not copy it; but move the column so that it is no longer in it’s original position- the column and it’s contents are now in the new position?
I know I could use any of the previous methods then delete the original column but this seems unnecessary, I must be able to “truly” move a column as previously described?
