Renumber images from start

I inserted images in random order to different places in my document and now their number are not in order. How can I renumber all images automatically (since I have about 200 of them) so that their numbering matches their order of apperance in my document?

Which operating system and LibreOffice Version do you use?

EDIT your question (don’t start a conversation at this stage) to describe:

  • how you inserted the images (which command?)
  • the image anchor mode (“to paragraph” or the dreaded “to page”)
  • how you captioned the images

I use Windows 10. I use libre office 7.1
So how can I do it?

I inserted the images from insert image button.
I did not caption the images.
I do not understand your question about image anchor mode. I didn’t do anything special about such thing. Assume default.

If you had captioned the images, they would be numbered in order. However they would not be numbered in order in Navigator which is what I assume you are looking at.
You would have to rename each image with a number to have them shown in order in Navigator. I guess this could be done with a macro but I cannot help with macros.
Personally, I caption each image so I can refer to it in text. If I wanted, I could insert an automatically generated table of figures in the document with links to the images

I do not understand your question about image anchor mode.

Anchoring and positioning images are important functions to define images also in their order.

You can find the description for the application here:

How can I anchor and position graphic elements (images, objects)?
