Table of Contents suddenly replaces title page after adding a title page and updating table of contents

I’m working with a document where the page style uses two columns. I added a table of contents at the beginning and up to now I haven’t had any issues. But today I added a title page (with no columns) and the moment I updated the table of contents, it immediately replaced the title page for some reason, deleting everything on the page and taking its place (and no longer has columns).

I can’t imagine why on earth this would happen. Is there any way to fix this?

Sample 1.odt (10.4 KB)
Here’s a sample file containing an example of my issue; right-click the table of contents in the file and click ‘update table’, and it will replace the title page.

You have inserted your title page inside the ToC.

This is an edited version where ToC is removed, and then recreated after inserting the title page. ToC title in wrong language I guess, but you can fix that…

If you insert a ToC in the very beginning of your document, there does not seem to be any way to insert anything before it. It goes inside and becomes part of the ToC title, which is of course regenerated every time you refresh the ToC.

Also, the option to protect against manual editing of the ToC (enabled by default on my install) does not work as expected.

Thank you so much, that helped me fix it!
