I can edit other docs in LibreOffice however one of them (the most important!!!) is frozen how do I ‘release’ it please.

Please edit your question (don’t use an answer) to define what you mean by “docs”: text document, spreadsheet, draw document, presentation?
Your problem seems to be related to a single file, therefore this file might be corrupted. What is its extension (or full name if your don’t know what an extension is)? Don’t forget to mention your OS et LO version.
Also, retag your question: meta means there is a problem with AskLibO site, common is reserved for problems occurring in all components (Writer, Calc, Draw, Impress, Math, Base), thus choose one of writer, calc, draw or impress depending on your file.
