The menus for Libre Office are showing gobbledegook

See picture:

Running on Windows 10, all up to date.

This problem occurs for normal users; however the menus show correctly for the system user. It used to work OK - clearly something has changed.

I have tried the following without success:

Uninstall & reinstall LibreOffice
Remove user profile so that it is regenerated (AppData/Roaming/LibreOffice/4/)
Start in safe mode & perform a reset to factory settings
Restored Windows default font settings
Tried disabling Skia

All other programs running on the PC appear to work correctly.

I note someone had a similar issue in March 2021 – but none of the suggested solutions appeared to work:

Any pointers or help appreciated!

It reminds me of the following thread where someone found “the alpabeticalky first language” Abkhaz as user-interface.

Maybe archive your profile to be inspected by somebody, who knows where to search…

Thank you @Wanderer ! That set me on track to sort it.

From the links you provided my understanding is that there is a bug in the installation process whereby the language can be set incorrectly. I had downloaded only one language (English UK) which is alphabetically below Abkhaz and is hence ignored due to the bug.

My solution was to repair the installation by selecting additional languages (multiple English + Abkhaz). This fixed the issue giving me English (US) as default which I could then change to English UK.

Presumably the Libre Office developers will read this thread and fix the bug.

Many thanks

That isn’t how it works.
