Toolbar icons disappear when editing text

LibreOffice 6.4.3.2
http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu focal main
Lubuntu 20.04 LTS

The icons in the top toolbar partially disappear when doing text editing or inserting a text box. Doing a “mouse-over” on the toolbar will sometimes bring the icons back, but not always.
In Writer and Calc this happens when inserting and editing the text box, in Calc also cells disappear.
In Impress it happens immediately when clicking on a headline in the template.
Draw and Math? Dunno, I’ve given up.

A Help → Restart in safe mode → Reset to factory settings did not solve the problem, in fact it spread it to Draw as well.
A sudo apt update/upgrade also brought no joy.

What’s going on?
Something very basic is wrong here.

Thank You.

Regarding your “Answer”: Take the search button of this site and check for problems with new release of Ubuntu 20.04 (and its derivatives) and you’ll agree that there a are problems. And some could befixed by the procedure described in the link to another question given in the answer. I wonder why you ask a question, if you even don’t want to take into account a potential solution. And - if it is a LibreOffice problem - turn to the PPA maintainers of Launchpad PPA maintainers of LibreOffice.

Thank You Opaque.
I apologise for using the wrong reply function, I’m new here. I hope this is the correct way.

The suggested solution leads nowhere. I’m not concerned with .PDFs. Did you even read my original post?
Clicking on text in a LibreOffice document makes the LO Toolbar icons disappear. Please make it plausible to me that the OS is responsible for this.
As I said, I’ll provide screenshots, but am unsure how to do this.

I did read - and if you read my answer and comment you’ll recognize that I never claimed your operating system is the cause of the problem rather stating that the integration of PPA Launchpad in Ubuntu might cause the problem. That’s all - and I’m sorry that the procedure doesn’t fix you issue.

Never mind: I found the perfect solution:

sudo apt purge libreoffice

Solves all problems and leaves space for a WORKING and SUPPORTED office package with qualified help, and perhaps a somewhat more functional forum (with screenshot support for better understanding).

Cheers and thank you for nothing.

An what is provided in https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/cannot-print-anything-exporting-to-pdf-produces-blank-pdf-lubuntu-20-04/52285:
....dpkg --list | awk '/ii/&&/libreoffice/||/libobasis/{print $2}' | sudo xargs apt purge -y ure

Hence obviously you are a great re-inventor of solutions already given. Now I wonder who is not reading …

Hello,

there seem to be many problems with latest release ubuntu 20.04 based distributions (ubuntu, lubuntu…) - please check the answer to this question Cannot print anything, exporting to PDF produces blank PDF (Lubuntu 20.04)

Hope that helps.

If the answer helped to solve your problem, please click the check mark (:heavy_check_mark:) next to the answer.

“there seem to be many problems with latest release ubuntu 20.04 based distributions”…

No. My Lubuntu 19.04 was 100% stable, 19.10 100% stable and 20.04 LTS is also 100% stable. All other programs work.
This is totally a LibreOffice problem.

My suspicion is, that there is an issue with font handling, although how this could influence the toolbar icons evades me.

I’d love to provide screenshots, but there’s no option to do so here…

Please do **not** use *Add Answer* if you actually don't answer a question but commenting an answer. Please use ***add a comment*** for that purpose. Thanks in advance …

Purge (via muon package manager) seems to work for me +/or it’s because I reinstalled Libreoffice-calc + …core by accident.
