Sirs, Guten Tag. I just now started an account with you so please pardon any mistakes I make. I have a question, the answer to which I cannot find in Search. On some pages using Writer, but inconsistently, I cannot type down to the bottom of the page to the Footer dotted line. No matter what I try it detours onto the next page, leaving an empty line there. I have the problem on a saved page to show you but I don’t see a way to send it as an attachment along with this message (as I can on Hotmail. I also tried Hyperlink but don’t know if it will work.).

I don’t know if just adding typing it here instead will duplicate the problem. Could you tell me what to do if it does not open? Many thanks.
It may a matter of remaining space. Your font size is 16pt and there is probably less than 16pt between the dotted line and the footer.
Remember that font size is not an exact measure. Two different 16pt fonts may not occupy the same vertical distance because the font designers have included more space for ascenders and descenders. Also the have provided a line leading. All in all, ti is very deifficult to tell a priori how tall a glyph is from the font size.
Remark: you are using Writer like an antiquated mechanical typewriter with all text in Default Paragraph Style and variations applied manually. Indent ia also done (erroneaously) with a tab character. Writer is a very powerful tool allowing for high automation. I encourage you to read at least the Writer Guide for a description of the features and, much better, the excellent Bruce Byfield’s Designing with LO availabel from the same location after pressing “More…” and scrolling down a bit. The latter explains the boost you can gain with styles.
PS: when asking here, always mention OS name, exact LO version and save format (.odt in your case).
First, to allow 37 lines of Times New Roman, single spaced, per page it requires 24.05 cm but there is only 23.94 mm in height available. You could set either the top or the bottom margin to 1.9 cm (or both to approximate 3/4"
Another issue for you is that Widow and Orphan control is still working. Right click Default Paragraph Style in the sidebar and select Edit Style > Text Flow and untick No split at beginning of paragraph and No split at end of paragraph. The problem is that unticking those settings makes readability more difficult, as does the cramming of lines and paragraphs together.
The point of writing is to convey ideas, not to save lines, so you should try to make it as readable as possible by allowing white space between paragraphs, not having lines that are too long to read comfortably, nor paragraphs with a single word at the beginning or end.
You might have found that you have been fighting against LibreOffice when you are writing, for example, it might keep changing to a smaller font. LibreOffice expects you write the main body of your work in Body Text paragraph style which inherits its size from Default paragraph style. Default Paragraph Style is set to Liberation Serif 12 pt, you could change it to your desired font face and size. Or, if you normally want that font and size, you could click *Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts (western) and set it there.
Having two columns will make fact-heavy text more readable.
