In a Calc spreadsheet, placing the cursor in the formula bar to add or change an integer or piece of text, it deletes everything that followed the cursor and I have to write the whole formula again. Is there a way of toggling this function off e.g.from ‘replace’ to ‘add’?
At first: try to click only once. Double or triple clicks may select other amounts if text. Check what is highlighted.
.
Then check your keyboard-sekection of Insert/overwrite mode as in this topic (concerning writer, but solution is the same):
Thank you. “your keyboard-selection of Insert/overwrite” - what is this? I’m using a Mac keyboard and am not aware of this switch/function. Also, the problem only seems to exist in Libre Office.
It also seems to behave randomly e.g if I have a formula that references =+‘May 24’.K15+I12 and I want to edit to read =+‘May 24’.K15+K17+I12, as soon as I place my cursor (carefully) after the K15+, the I12 is deleted. This doesn’t happen anywhere else i.e. I haven’t had this problem while writing this here.
I’m avoiding MacOS, if I can, so this is my first hit on google:

Thank you. Yes, the Clear button on my Mac (which I’ve never noticed before) does act as a toggle in Calc and seems to have solved the issue. Though I still have to be extra careful with not highlighting more than one integer; which was never an issue on previous releases.
