What are the consequences of changing the color palette?

If I add or modify a color in the color table, does this only affect the display for my LibreOffice installation, or will the RGB values be stored in the document?

In other words, is this a local preference, or will the new color be visible to other people when they open a document I created with the modified palette?

In a similar vein, is it possible to import or export a palette? I’m using LibreOffice 3.3.0.4, and I don’t see an option for that in Tools / Options / LibreOffice / Colors.

This question about embedding colour palettes is related.

All modifications that we do in the color pallete are local. But we can send a document made with a modified pallete to other user, with no problems. The colors informations are recorded on the file in RGB format, like #d38dc7. So, everything will work.

However, if you want to share your modified pallete, you will need to copy the file standard.soc and past in the respective user’s folder. The location of this folder/file depends of your operating system, but with a simple search you can figure it out.

If you prefer, you can follow this steps (after copy your standard.soc) that I found in http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14529:

.:: In Writer, use the Drawing toolbar to insert a graphic object, an ellipse, e.g…

.:: On the object, right-click > Area > Colors

.:: Click the “Load Color List” button (it has only an icon: the standard “open file” icon)

.:: Choose any “.soc” file you like [your standard.soc]

.:: OK
