Why Does LibreOffice Requires OS File Updates?

When attempting to install LibreOffice 6.3.2 on Windows 10 insider build 19002, the installation wants to update SvchHost. On another device the installation wanted to update File Explorer. These are important OS files and the insider builds would have the most recent versions of them.

Why would the LibreOffice install expect to replace/update them?

Did LibreOffice offered you an upgrade of OS files? Or did it tell you that system processes lock some resources that need upgrade? Aren’t they two different things? So possibly more correct would be asking “Why am I told that system processes need to be stopped?”

See some discussion here.

The last time it specifically displayed:
“The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. You can let Installation Wizard close them and attempt to restart them or reboot the machine later.”

The application listed is File Explorer.

Yes, the application is using files needed to be updated. It doesn’t mean that this application is the file that needs updating. Explorer (and many other system components) load - and thus lock - multiple DLLs provided by other software, e.g. to show preview, ir extended file information, or provide custom context menus etc.
