Writer appearance changes not saved

Since 25.8.0.4 none of my changes in the appearance section (customized non-printing characters colour) have survived. Back to default cyan.

Old documents have reverted to cyan. Same for new documents. You can make the change, save the document, but next time you open it, back to cyan.

Is it a bug or a change of settings elsewhere?

Which LO version you used before?

Previous version 25.8.0.1

That was a prerelease version.
You can downgrade to it. Here are the installer files of the olded and prerelease versions:

The Appearance colours are for the interface only and do not form any part of the documents.

I think that there has been another major change with the implementation of Bug 164970 - Options → Appearance new LibreOffice Themes panel redesign

[Edit] Some Themes cannot be installed and I don’t see a way to create a new theme or save modifications to a new theme.

Zizi64 Thank you for your effort. The below comment on themes was the answer.
