[writer] Consecutive numbering on only one level?

Hi,

I can’t seem to have consecutive numbering for only one level.
Here is what I want :

A) Title 1
1) Title 2
2) Title 2
B) Title 1
3) Title 2
...

Here is the best I can get when I check Consecutive numbering on all levels in Format > Bullets and Numbering

A) Title 1
1) Title 2
2) Title 2
B) Title 1
4) Title 2
...

Is there a way to achieve what I want ? I’m using LibreOffice Writer 4.4 on Fedora 22. Thank you for your help !

Hi

For level 1 use the “standard” numbering via Tools Outline Numbering.

For level 2 use a Paragraph style (e.g. Title 2 consecutive in Consecutive.odt) applying a List style (e.g. Numbering 1 in the example).

To reproduce, create (or edit) a Paragraph style, Outline & Numbering tab:

  • Outline level, select Level 2 (to include these paragraphs in the table of contents)
  • Numbering style, select Numbering 1 (for example)

[EDIT]
Other version using Heading2 style: Consecutive2.odt

Regards

It took me some times to understand the solution, but it worked thank you !

The point is to create a new style from scratch so it doesn’t inherit from Heading but from Text Body… Is it possible to copy the existing style I was using ?

You can use the existing style (e.g. Heading2): use same parameters (outline level & Numbering style) but you have to set Tools Outline Numbering, Numbering tab Level 2 Paragraph style: to [[None]]

Thank you for the prompt reply, I don’t have the same rendering for spacing/numbering but it works too ! I think I’ll have one day to read a tutorial about styles…

I customized the List style Numbering 1: Position & Options tabs.
