Whenever I try to use the format menu, writer freezes and I have to shut it up. I use Windows 10 and LO 5.0.2. Thank you.
Hi Iñaki
When confronted with strange problems in LO, the first thing to do is to reset to a Default Profile (below). If that does not work then report your problem as a bug.
There are a great many problems being reported in these ask.lo pages with lo-5 under win10. It seems that many of them may be connected with the UAC introduced with Vista. However, the whole thing needs folks with a problem to go through the bug-report process, else nothing can change.
Re-Setting to a Default Profile:
“If you notice any strange behaviour on LibreOffice, or simply it fails to start, the first thing to try is to reset the user profile.”
Note that Profile folders/directories are hidden, so use methods suitable for your OS to enable you to view them.
- Close down LO/OO + the Quickstarter
- Go to your profile
- Rename the folder
- Restart LO & try again
(this re-creates a default Profile)
If this helps then please tick the answer ()
…and/or show you like it with an uptick (∧)
The above fix did not work for me but this did.
If you’re working with a document that is saved in an older format, e.g. “.doc” it could be some old code/formatting that was embedded into the document that is causing the problem.
If you paste your document into notepad it will remove all the formatting. You can then paste it back into a blank LO document and save it.
In windows 10 64 Your profile is located in c:\User\Yourname\appdata\roaming\Libreoffice
rename \Libreoffice to something else like oldLibreoffice.
