Writer refuses to print all pages

LO 24.8.3.2
macOS 12.7.6

I have received a large file (633 pages) that I need to save as PDF. While saving as PDF has worked umpteen times in the past, with printallpages.odt (326.0 KB) it simply won’t. Why?

When I open the print dialog, LO Writer selects to print pages “From 1 to 8”, thus only a fraction of the document:

In order to have all pages printed, I select “All” (or instead of “8” enter “633”), and at the bottom PDF > Save as PDF. However, a PDF file is created with pages 1 to 8 only. A dialog opens again, this time with “From 1 to 36” selected. This repeats itself several times, with varying page ranges selected, but always starting from page 1. It’s not possible to save a PDF file (or combine several PDF files into one) with all 633 pages.

Can anyone find out what is wrong with the file? What do I need to do to make a PDF file of it? Thanks for any suggestions!

(I have inserted line numbers on the left margin, and I need to keep these.)

It looks like you are printing to a virtual printer (PDF) on your system.
This uses an external function to LibreOffice. Communication with the virtual printer may fail (Buffer saturated etc…)
Why don’t you try Writer’s internal function to export to PDF (File > Export As > Export as PDF)?

No problems with File > Export As > Export as PDF, 627 pages

If I print to Microsoft PDF it works fine but takes a lot longer, 626 pages

My Adobe PDF is bit a lot older and it choked on my installed version of EB Garamond which is the variable version. So check your that your pdf printer can manage variable fonts

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[Page: 1]%%
%%[Page: 2]%%
EBGaramond-Italic not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: show ]%%

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Adobe was the only instance in which the page number was limited but only in the error log, not the print dialogue

Thank you both for your help. Don’t know why I was not aware of File > Export As > Export as PDF, but using this works as it should, even with the file in question.
