How to change Font in Text Box & Options to print text but not the text box itself?

Hello, I just started using LibreOffice yesterday after watching a video on how to make editable PDFs for free.
I have two questions

  1. how can I change the font of the text in the text boxes? The option is gray-ed out and the font is drastically different then the rest of the form.

  2. Is it possible to have the edited parts show on a line or something other then a text box when printing so the form looks more streamline and professional ? Would prefer lines to boxes.

Thanks so much

Create a fillable form in Writer

Form Controls

Can that help?

Not really. I read over all of that prior to setting up my first form.
I have removed the boxes from the form but it still shows a background even though I changed it to white. So when it prints its going to print these backgrounds.
Nothing shows if its possible to place a line instead of a box.
And… even though I have changed the font in all of the boxes, they are still not the same as the rest of the form which is the same font.
I’m on a deadline for 7 forms, originally in google docs, but wanted something more controlled so the forms can’t be easily messed up. These need to be copied and given to multiple people taking a course so that they can use them in their work.

Maybe you can upload a reduced and anonymized sample document here for someone to examine.

How to upload:
Click on the three dots ( … ) directly below your initial question.
Then click the pencil icon to edit your question.
In question edit mode, select the upload icon.
Select your file and click the Upload button.
Thank you.

Can’t upload pdfs?

No, upload please the source (I assume it is an ODT file). Thank you.

The ODT file you uploaded can never become a fillable form.
You can’t do anything with it.
There are no controls included at all.
Please provide more information about how to create a form.

I don’t understand what you are asking me to provide.
I attached the ODT of the PDF form I built with text boxes.

Sorry, it was my mistake because I did not see the fields.

Select a box.
Select the “Form Design” in the “Form Controls” toolbar and then click on “Control Properties”.

In the dialog “Properties: [FIELD]” you can set the font and size.

Yes, that is where I edited all of the boxes. I just right click and get the same options to edit.
The font still isn’t the same.
More importantly, I need a way to have it print with the info showing that is typed into the boxes with at the most a line under it. No colors just black and white looking like a normal document.

I have revised the document a bit. Basically, I changed the font to “Noto Sans”.
However, you can also use “Liberation Sans”, for example.
I assigned styles to the body text and the heading, but this has nothing to do with the actual problem.

One tip:
I don’t think it has anything to do with your current problem, but when creating documents you should avoid direct (hard) formatting and basically use styles. See:
Professional text composition with Writer

And maybe have a look here:
Fonts issues

If the main issue can’t be resolved then the font really doesn’t matter

You may have a defective user profile. Try Step 1.; 2. and 6.:

First steps

Wait… what does my profile have to do with the blue backgrounds and text boxes printing or not printing? This should be part of the “style” or something in controls to have it print without those boxes right?

As you can see from my uploaded examples, it works very well for me.

Sometimes it is tedious to locate problems, this requires you to go through some steps of testing and trial and error.

But no one will force you to do things you don’t want to do.

From my side, I can therefore not help you further here.

Perhaps someone else will be able to give you better advice.

Good luck in the future.

all you had to tell me from the start is that it IS suppose to work the way I need it to work.

The example you are showing me has the same background color that I’m trying to resolve.

The background colour is part of the view in Adobe Reader and has nothing to do with LibreOffice. The background colour is also only visible in the view on the screen (for me).
Here you have an example from PDF Viewer Plus (Nuance):
