will there be at least viewer app for viewing .odt docs on android, if not fully functional app for editing .odt docs on android platform?
I use the free (but sadly not open source) Lotus Symphony viewer that IBM has written. It’s sometimes a bit slow but generally gives the best rendering.
Tried, app can be of some use, but does not load large files (139 kB for instance), does not have zoom, and so on; thank for for your time to help.
There are two free packages:
OpenOffice Document Reader (https://market.android.com/details?id=at.tomtasche.reader&feature=search_result) and
Mobile Document Viewer (https://market.android.com/details?id=de.joergjahnke.documentviewer.android.free&feature=also_installed)
But they are not so good, like LibreOffice.
LibreOffice has been demoed on FOSDEM 2012 to run on Android thanks to the great work mostly done by Tor Lillqvist. A stable viewing application is the next target, but that still is a lot of work.
But yes, if progress continues to be as good as it has been so far, there will be a viewer application on Android in foreseeable future.
That demo was not about a viewer, which is the question here.
