Please tell us, what kind of text box?
If you expect any decent help, better describe your problem. Are you working on .doc(x) documents or .odt ones? Don’t forget to mention your OS name and LO version.
I have a Ubuntu 20.04 Laptop (up to date on patching). I have the Libre Office trying to create a docx document. The entire document has a frame around the text (i.e. text box). from what I have read how to remove this stupid thing it does not work. I do not want a frame around my words in a cover letter (example).
Here is an example:
Well, it’s not clear from the screeshot excerpt what it is, unfortunately.
It could be, a table, a frame, a text field or a range area.
Please upload a reduced and anonymized file, where the problem is present, here, so someone can examine it.
Thank you.
Or with DOCX there could be a compatibility problem. Try ODT.
Here is a copy of a file in question.
TRW2022ITMGR-VTG-Coverletter.docx (6.0 KB)
TRW2022ITMGR-VTG-Coverletter.odt (20.9 KB)
Your documents are plagued with direct formatting, formatting manually added. To get rid of everything, Ctrl
+A
, then Ctrl
+M
.
This will remove the border on all paragraphs.
You probably copied your text from some web site because the font face is configured the same as in CSS for HTML pages. I.e. you have a preferred font face/family, followed by fallback faces/families separated by semicolons. This specification doesn’t work with Writer. You can specify only one font face in a style.
Anyway, clearing direct formatting will also clear this (bad) customisation, reverting to the default font on your computer.
One last advice: work with .odt to avoid round-trip conversions which cause formatting loss and compatibility problems. If you really must send a .doc(x) document, do it only as the final step of your job procedure and never use this version as the working copy of the document. Note that Word claims to be able to read .odt files.
Worked perfectly Thanks!
